Alarm Association of Florida Agrees to Co-Locate Annual Convention with EHX

Three-year deal will pump up security at high-growth custom electronics event

Framingham, MA – August 11, 2005 – EH Events & Education announced today that it has finalized an agreement with the Alarm Association of Florida (AAF) for the co-location of their events. Starting in 2006, the AAF’s Annual Convention will be co-located with the Electronic House Expo (http://www.ehxweb.com) tradeshow in Orlando, Florida.

As part of the agreement, the AAF will sponsor a new Electronic Security Pavilion at EHX Spring starting with the 2006 show in Orlando, March 30 – April 1, conduct their Convention technical training courses and social events including their MVP Award Dinner. Additionally, the AAF board of directors, other committees and general membership will meet at EHX Spring. The AAF Convention typically draws approximately 500 attendees. With the added value of co-location with EHX’s exciting exposition and conference program, attendance numbers are bound to increase over the term of the agreement.

AAF is increasing its participation due to the growing interest in electronic security products among EHX attendees. EHX Spring 2005 research shows strong percentages of the EHX attendee audience purchasing security. Specifically:

85% of EHX attendees purchase CCTV
71% purchase burglar and fire alarm controls
70% purchase access control
72% purchase intrusion sensors
67% purchase fire/smoke detectors
63% purchase telephone-based access control for multi-family applications
59% purchase gate operators and perimeter protection

EHX attendees are also increasingly active in non-residential markets, with 57% serving the light commercial new construction market and 46% serving the light commercial retrofit market. Better than half of all attendees do some form of light commercial work.

The AAF’s endorsement expansion also reflects the growing interest in product line diversification among security dealers. Whether its structured wiring, multi-room audio, home and building automation, home theater or commercial A/V, security dealers are looking at logical add-on businesses, and EHX offers them resources to research and act on these concepts and plans.

The Alarm Association of Florida, Inc.
