EHX and CE Pro to Deliver Reality-Based Learning Environment for Retrofit Technology

Retrofit Technologies Installation Clinic Sponsored by Russound and Worthington Distribution will be Taught by Leading Experts to Offer CE Professionals Unique Experience on the Expo Floor

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- DECEMBER 1, 2009 -- The Electronic House Expo (EHX) and CE Pro are pleased to offer the Retrofit Technologies Installation Clinic during EHX Spring 2010: The New Opportunities Show, March 25-27, 2010 in Orlando, Florida.

Sponsored by Worthington Distribution and Russound, the mini-clinics will be held throughout the day at the Worthington booth (#521), where the distributor will set up the famed "Installation Wall" that typically is used during full-day installation boot camps.

"Typically, you have to sign up for full-day day session to enjoy the hands-on training that Worthington has provided for a decade," says CE Pro Editor-at-Large Julie Jacobson, who oversees the Retrofit Track at EHX. "Not only can dealers get the training in little 20- or 30-minute snippets, they can get it for free."

In addition to generic retrofit installation training, in which dealers can peer through walls and cabinets to understand wire-fishing techniques, Worthington and Russound will demonstrate the installation of Russound's new Collage powerline-based multiroom audio, video, and communications system.

"Dealing with the powerline can be a little bit spooky for low-voltage integrators," Jacobson explains. "Here, installers will learn how to work with electricians on a hybrid low-voltage/high-voltage job. It's easier than it may seem."

The Retrofit Technologies Installation Clinic complements CEDIA's Retrofit Installation course, which will focus on the three Ps of retrofitting: planning, patience and practice, as well as the Retrofit CE Pro Super Session and additional retrofit courses.

Retrofit technology is one of the seven growth areas highlighted at EHX, along with Home Health Technology, Smart Energy, Commercial, Recurring Revenue, Digital Media, and Custom Electronics.

For the first time, all courses at EHX, including the full-day CEDIA sessions, are free with the all-inclusive EHX New Opportunities Pass. The pass also includes:

  • CEDIA University: CEDIA has hand-selected 19 of the most critical courses to the CE industry. Attendees will choose from this customized selection of CEDIA training courses and certification opportunities while earning up to 46 CEUs.
  • CE Pro Super Sessions: Attendees will journey inside each of the growth markets individually, exploring business models, emerging technologies, new applications, lead generation, target profit margins and what it takes to succeed. Led by CE Pro’s most experienced editors, these sessions will offer a total picture of what success looks like.
  • Dealer-to-Dealer (D2D) Panels: Panels of experienced integrators will share their first-hand experiences working in each of the growth markets. Attendees will have their own questions answered during the Office Hours Q&A sessions immediately following the D2D Panels. Located at CE Pro Headquarters at the heart of the Expo Floor, attendees can learn from 30+ sessions happening throughout EHX.
  • Enhanced Expo Floor: In addition to 200+ leading companies showcasing their products and services, EHX has added even more value to the Expo Floor. Features include: Six CE Pro Super Sessions at the CE Pro Stage; over 30 CE Pro Dealer-to-Dealer Panel Sessions; four New Expo Floor Pavilions; Demo Alley; and more than 100 Manufacturer-Training Sessions.
  • Additional Technology Training: Dozens of technology training courses and Hands-On Workshops will be offered each day. Attendees will gain first-hand experience in these sessions focused on Digital Media, Smart Energy, Home Health Technology, and Retrofit.
