After completing the online portion of this course, students will need to attend the lab portion of the course and score 80% on the written exam. The lab portion of the course is an on-site, hands-on performance assessment to demonstrate that the student is able to effectively manage a renovation project and comply with the rules. The purpose of the lab portion of the course is to have students demonstrate proficiency at the following skills consistent with the requirements of the EPA RRP Rule:

#1: Using EPA Recognized Test Kits
#2: Setting up Barriers, Signs, and Flapped Entry Doors
#3: Cover or Remove Furniture
#4: Establish Interior Containment
#5: Establish Exterior Containment
#6: Personal Protective Equipment
#7: Interior Final Cleaning
#8: Exterior Final Cleaning
#9: Bagging Waste
#10: Visual Inspection
#11: Cleaning Verification Procedure

Completion of this training is a way to be distinctive in the marketplace and bring added value to clients. Successfully completing this training also qualifies participants to work on jobs in Federally-assisted target housing where lead-safe work practices are required. Participants must pass the test at the end of this course and keep the course completion certificate to demonstrate that they are qualified. This course is not an abatement course and does not qualify participants to conduct abatement activities, nor does it meet OSHA requirements. Note that employers are responsible for complying with any OSHA requirements.
